Matthew Perry, the renowned actor celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Chandler Bing on the popular television series “Friends,” has passed away at the age of 54. His untimely demise is currently under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department Robbery-Homicide Division, although no foul play is suspected, according to a law enforcement source in Los Angeles.

Matthew Perry’s story began in Williamstown, Massachusetts, where he was birthed to an actor father and a journalist mother. After his parents’ separation, he moved to Ottawa, Canada, to live with his mother as a child. Perry initially pursued a career in tennis and became a top-ranked player in Canada. However, following his move to Los Angeles as a teenager to live with his father, his interest in acting began to develop.

His early acting career included minor roles in TV shows such as “240-Robert,” “Charles in Charge,” “Silver Spoons,” and “The Tracey Ullman Show.” Perry’s first film role occurred during his high school years when he appeared opposite River Phoenix in the 1988 film “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon.” In the year before the film’s release, he starred in the sitcom “Second Chances” (later renamed “Boys Will Be Boys”), which centered around a man who dies and returns to earth to mentor his younger self, played by Perry.

While “Second Chances” did not find a substantial audience, Perry continued to secure more prominent roles in television, including appearances in “Growing Pains,” “Who’s The Boss,” and “Beverly Hills, 90210.”
